Write a cover letter in 15 minutes

18 May 2026 · 3 min read

A cover letter isn't a summary of your CV — it's your chance to explain, in your own voice, why you and this role fit.

Paragraph 1 — why this job

Name the role and one specific reason you want it. Skip "To whom it may concern" if you can find the hiring manager's name.

Paragraph 2 — your proof

Pick one or two achievements that match what the advert asks for, and give a number where you can: people managed, money saved, customers served.

Paragraph 3 — the close

Thank them, say you'd welcome a conversation, and stop. Short and confident beats long and repetitive.
