How to get your CV past the robots (ATS)

Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) are programs employers use to sort CVs automatically. If your CV can't be read cleanly by one, a great candidate can be filtered out before anyone looks at it.

Use a real text layer, not an image

A photo or scan of a printed CV is invisible to an ATS. Always send a PDF that contains selectable text. Every TemplateHub template exports exactly this way.

Keep the structure simple

Clear section headings — Experience, Education, Skills — help the software file your information correctly. Avoid burying details inside tables, text boxes or graphics.

Mirror the job's language

If the posting asks for "customer support" don't only write "client care." Use the words that appear in the advert where they honestly apply to you — that's what the ATS is matching against.
